Boys Varsity Baseball · Boone Clinches Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Colonial, 9-6

The Braves snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-5 victory over Colonial on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with Boone batting in the top of the fifth when Arturo Laurentin singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

In the first inning, Boone Braves got their offense started when Jansen Reece singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Cooper Ellingworth earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Boone. The righthander allowed five hits and five runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out ten. Corbin Davis threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen, striking out the batter on 3 straight pitches.

Boone Braves totaled 14 hits. Frank Landeiro, Jose’ Olmeda, and Carson Moore all managed multiple hits for the Braves. Olmeda and Landeiro each managed three hits to lead Boone Braves.
