OCPS is voting, Tuesday, on a potential start date of August 31st.
Parents regardless of what the FHSAA and OCPS has to say, you have final say if you want your athlete to participate. If you do not feel safe with your athlete participating I understand.
Swimming and Diving is still tentative! Plans could still change, but it looks like we are going to have a swim season so it is time to prepare.
Swimming Tryouts will tentatively be held August 31st! Girls tryout will be 5:15am-6:45am and the boys tryout will be 3:00pm-4:30pm. (Must be split for social distancing due to expected tryout numbers)
We will only be fielding varsity teams. Covid restrictions and limited pool time across the county have made this necessary. The Varsity team you are trying out for will practice in the mornings at Wadeview pool throughout the month of September to limit further interruptions from weather. In October we will flip back to the afternoons to get ready for championship season. I want to stress, that everything is still tentative. Plans could still change. Club swimmers will communicate with me a plan if you wish to continue club swimming during the season.
Athletes must fill out the following Google form to sign up for the tryout. Athletes who do not fill out the form are not guaranteed a try out. Or a spot on the team, even if you are our best swimmer. You must be able to follow instructions this year to be a part of the team. All Athletes must bring a water bottle to their tryout. Without a water bottle the athlete will be sent home. There are absolutely no sharing of water bottles this year. Athletes must bring their own Goggles and Towel to tryouts and practice as well. Out of safety these items cannot be shared. Masks while walking on and off the pool deck. No parking in the Wadeview parking lot in the afternoons. In the mornings it is not a problem.
Athletes must have a completed 2020 sports physical. Even if your physical from 2019 still clears you for fall, ALL athletes must have a parent create an account on the athletic clearance website. If you use a student email for the account it will be denied, use a parent email. If you are unsure about your physical being cleared or not, please feel free to reach out to me before tryouts. More detailed instructions attached.
