Braves News · Boone Braves Blows Out Freedom Thanks to Big Fifth Inning

Seven runs in the fifth inning led Boone Braves past Freedom 12-2 on Thursday. Dennis Santiago, Jose’ Olmeda, Gavin Galy, Robert De Benedetti, Frank Landeiro, and Conor Lynch all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Boone Braves took the lead for good with one run in the third inning. In the third Jansen Reece doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Boone Braves scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Santiago, Olmeda, Galy, De Benedetti, Landeiro, and Lynch each had RBIs in the big inning.

Patrick Doherty pitched Boone Braves to victory. He surrendered two runs on three hits over three innings, striking out two and walking one.  Jayden Badillo came in relief pitching three innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out two.

Boone Braves racked up 11 hits. Olmeda, De Benedetti, Cole Nibert, and Reece each racked up multiple hits for Boone Braves.   Reece, Nibert, De Benedetti, and Olmeda each collected two hits to lead Boone. Boone didn’t commit a single error in the field. De Benedetti had four chances in the field, the most on the team.

The varsity baseball team will retake the field on Tuesday, March 17th at Osceola High School.  They will play a doubleheader versus the Kowboys of Osceola with the first game starting at 11:00 a.m.
