Braves Athletics would like to congratulate the following fall athletes on their outstanding performances in their respective sports. Thirteen Boone athletes received recognition from fellow teams and coaches in their Metro Conference divisions. Fall sports included swimming, cross country, football, girls volleyball, golf, and bowling.
For Girls Bowling, Ashley Reid, Senior, qualified for 12th in the state with a four-game set of 793. The boys bowling team had Nolan Castor awarded honorable mention, while Jacob Hopper, who received All-Area, rolled a 943 in a four-game series, placing him top seed in state qualifiers. Hopper’s score alone qualified Boone for 9th in the State. The Orlando Sentinel named Boone one of the “Boys’ Super Six” thanks to Hopper’s top individual score.
Girls Golf had an Orlando Sentinel Honorable Mention All-Area for Dina Rani. Rani was also awarded a spot on the All-Metro East Golf Team.
Boone Boys Swimming finished 2nd in the Metro Conference with seven swimmers named to the All-Metro Team. Elias Contogonas placed in 200 yd Freestyle and 500 yd Freestyle. Rusty Dagon was also chosen for two separate events, the 200 yd Freestyle Relay and 100 yd Backstroke. The following athletes were chosen for the 200 Freestyle relay: Robert Duckworth, Rusty Dagan, Dylan McKinney, and Elias Contogonas. Dylan McKinney was chosen for 100 yd Freestyle as well.
The football team had four athletes chosen for the All Metro-Team. The Braves placed two offensive lineman in Desmond Demando, a Jacksonville University signee, and Justin Thomas. Trent Bivens and Zach Thomas, a Mercyhurst University signee, were chosen as defensive lineman.
Girls Volleyball was led by two student-athletes in Lily Baker and Kaitlin Michaels. Baker earned All-Metro honors, while Michaels earned the All-Metro Academic Award.
