Lady Braves- 5 Sharks- 1
After a long bus ride to Riverview High School on Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Braves played in the Regional Quarterfinals against the Riverview Sharks. At the beginning of the game, the Lady Braves found themselves down 1-0 after the Sharks scored off of a free kick. The girls responded quickly and continued to dominate the rest of the half with their strong technical skills and possession through the midfield. Freshman Allie Fekany assisted sophomore Heidi Wicks who scored the first goal for the Lady Braves. Soon after, junior Addie Marlett assisted senior Cynthia Bagozzi who had a beautiful shot that soared into the goal. After halftime, the Lady Braves put the game away and scored three additional goals. Junior Addie Marlett and senior Cynthia Bagozzi found the back of the net. One of the most exciting moments of the game was when junior Morgan Morton scored off of a set piece with under three minutes left in the game. However, the referee pulled it back because she didn’t wait until the whistle was set to kick the ball. Morton took the exact same shot again and made it, placing the ball in the upper 90 of the goal off of the crossbar.
The Lady Braves advance to the Regional Semifinals on Friday and will take on the Winter Park Wildcats!
