Lady Braves take the Bronze Bracket at Tourney and Best the Colonial Grenadiers at Home

The Varsity Lady Braves Volleyball team played in the Winter Park High School Showcase Tournament on September 14 and 15.  Placed into the top division, the Braves faced off against competitive teams from the Central Florida area, losing to Dr. Phillips and Santa Fe High School and beating out Gulliver High School in pool play.  During final tournament play, the Braves rallied topped Mater Academy and Olympia High School in exciting wins to take the Bronze Division of the tournament.  Combined stat leaders for the weekend were Senior Captain Outside Hitter Ashlynn Daley (28 kills, 20 digs, 7 aces, 4 assists), Senior Captain Lily Baker (16 kills, 35 digs, 5 aces), Junior Middle Halle Block (8.5 blocks, 8 kills, 2 digs), and Sophomore Setter Ella Durham (41 assists, 13 digs).
Back on the Reservation, the Braves hosted the Colonial on Tuesday night (9/18) and took down the Grenadiers 3 sets to 1.  Led by Captains Lily Baker and Ashlynn Daley, the Boone made quick work of Colonial in the first 2 sets (25-13, 25-17).  Lineup changes and a lull allowed the Grenadiers to push back, taking the third set 15-25), but the Braves roared back in set 4 (25-11), punishing Colonial and taking the match.  Outstanding performances were put out by Freshman Outside Hitter Zoe Talabong (6 kills, 2 digs, .333 hitting average), Senior Outside Hitter Lily Baker (6 aces, 7 digs, 3 kills), Senior Outside Hitter Ashlynn Daley (7 kills, 6 digs, 2 aces), Junior Middles Halle Block (4 kills, 2 digs, .571 hitting average) and Clara Flint (4 kills, 3 digs, 2 aces).  Congratulations on a great playing streak!

The Braves travel to take on Apopka on Wed. 9/19 and host The First Academy at Boone on 9/20.
